Bam Aquino on 14th place standing: ‘Pray for me, pray for the country’

Manila, Philippines– Re-electionist Sen. Bam Aquino has broken his silence since the start of canvassing of votes for the midterm elections.

Aquino is considered to be the last hope of the opposition’s Otso Diretso candidates. He is now at 14th place with over 14 million votes. He is behind another re-electionist Senator JV Ejercito. Fellow opposition candidate Mar Roxas is out of the top 15.

“Hello everyone! I wanted to make my first public statement after the counting finished, but since so many friends are asking how I am,I just want to tell everyone out there that I’m ok! Please continue praying for me, better yet, please continue praying for and loving our country.” Aquino said in a tweet.

Aquino said he is ready to accept the results whether good or bad.

“Hindi mauubos ang pagmamahal ko sa ating mga kababayan maganda man o hindi ang resulta ng eleksyon. Love love love and gratitude to all those sending their messages of support!” he added.

Administration allies dominate the Senate’s top 12.

Now that opposition bets chances fade, the checks and balances in the 18th congress will rely on the shoulders of Senators Kiko Pangilinan, Risa Hontiverod, Frank Drilon and detained Senator Leila De Lima. (Philnews photo)
