An Egyptian man was sentenced to three months in jail by a Dubai court on Tuesday, October 23, after being accused of molesting a female cleaner in his apartment.
The 46-year-old Egyptian man inappropriately groped the Filipina maid while he was alone with her in his apartment, public prosecution records showed, reported Khaleej Times.
The man denied the allegations at the court of First Instance claiming he accidentally touched the woman. He was found guilty and as per court ruling, he is set to be deported.
The 32-year-old complainant stated that on March 11, around 2:30 PM, she was commanded by the cleaning services department to clean the man’s flat.
“The door was open. I cleaned till around 6pm until his arrival. I was then ironing clothes in the living room. He called me to his bedroom and asked me to clean the dust on the bed’s front part,” she said.
While she was cleaning, the man groped her and abruptly pulled his hand, she told prosecutors.
“When I yelled at him, he claimed it happened by mistake. I pushed his hand away as he grabbed my hand and told me he would give me money to keep quiet and not file a police complaint.”
She then went to the kitchen where the man followed him and left the cleaning charge on the table. She took it and left the apartment. As she reached down the building, she called the police.
The accused firmly denied the charge during the public prosecution investigation.
The defendant has 15 days to appeal the decision from the issuance date.
