The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh has reminded Filipinos in Saudi Arabia about the fine and punishment of spreading false information online.
“Avoid producing, spreading, or sharing electronically, anything that compromises public order, religious values, public morals and privacy,” the Embassy statement read.
As stated in their advisory release October 17, those who will be caught liable for the offense will be punished with imprisonment of up to five years and payment of fines up to three million Saudi riyals or Php43 million.
Similar penalty will be slapped for those who spread rumors and unverified information online, including social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Messenger and Instagram among others.
