Sara Duterte offers to join her father’s future trips to prevent another kissing incident

Sara Duterte-Carpio has offered to join President Rodrigo Duterte’s future trips to prevent the kissing incident in South Korea from happening again.

In a speech on Friday, June 8, the presidential daughter requested the Office of the Presidential Management Staff to send her an invitation every time her father has scheduled trips so that “Kris Aquino and Mocha Uson will not fight over (Duterte) again”.

She added that she is willing to pay for her own expenses.

“When I heard that there was an incident in Korea, I thought of writing the Office of the Presidential Management Staff: Can you please, please send me an invitation every time you have events to make sure that Kris Aquino and Mocha Uson will not fight over (Duterte) again,” the presidential daughter said.

“Next time, I will join the president’s trips and will spend my own money — just to make sure that the kissing incident will not happen again,” she added.

The president faced backlash after kissing an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in front of a crowd during his official trip in South Korea.

The president explained that he has also kissed his female supporters in the past dating back to his campaign days for Davao City mayorship citing it was his “style.”

The OFW backed Duterte by saying that the kiss did not mean anything as she is already married to a Korean man and already has a child.

The kiss also caused an exchange of words between Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson and daughter of late senator Benigno Aquino Jr., Kris Aquino, when Uson compared the kiss to an old clip showing a Filipina kissing Ninoy during his flight to Manila, moments before he was shot dead at the tarmac of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Aquino said Uson was “disrespecting her parents.”

Uson later on uploaded another video following an order from the president to apologize to Kris Aquino. In the 23-second “apology video”, Uson told Aquino that the first video she uploaded was not about her.

In response, Aquino posted a 17-minute long Facebook Live video, only about an hour after Uson posted hers, to address the issue saying that she wants to end the controversy.

However, she countered Uson’s argument by saying that the matter is indeed about her since the people being attacked are her late parents.
