DUBAI: The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai (PCGDXB) and the Filipino Ladies of Dubai (FLD) will host a photography exhibition, featuring the blacks-and-whites of Eros Goze, a well-established and sought-after photographer based in Dubai – on September 1.
His “Chiaroscuro—Art & Style—Photography Exhibition” features 17 photographs at the Rizal Hall of the PCG in Al Qusais, reported Gulf Today.
“Chiaroscuro is a continuation of the advocacy of the consulate and the Filipino Ladies of Dubai to feature Filipino artists in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, providing them an avenue for their artistic pursuits and endeavors,” FLD chairman Dr. Yasmin Balajadia-Cortes reportedly said
“We hope that Filipinos become more appreciative of their culture and art forms thereby allowing the free flow of their soulful expressions,” she added.
Cortes is hopeful the event would “impress upon the public” that there is no dearth of photography talent among Filipinos and that it is one of the artistic forms by which they could again excel.
“That the consulate is not only a venue to resolve problems and concerns but it is also a repository of talent as well as a proof of the repute of the Filipino as a global artist,” she added.
Earlier, the Philippine Consulate and the FLD have organized the June to August photography exhibition of Chris Calumberan, another noted Filipino photographer in the UAE, the report said.
On Aug.16 they held the landmark song writing competition “Dubai Dubai Musikahan” complete with a professional recording of the top 12 in time for the “Buwan ng Wika” (“National Language Month”), reported Gulf Today.
The Sept.1 launch of the “Chiaroscuro” coincides with the anniversary of the Foundation Day of Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines nestled 1,540 meters in the Cordillera mountain range of Northern Luzon, and developed by the American colonizers from the 1900s as they were attracted to its pleasantly cool climate, said the Sharjah-based news portal.
