Back-to-back gold medal winners will soon come home with millions of pesos in rewards after making the country proud in gymnastics and boxing.
Gymnast Carlos Yulo and boxer Nesthy Petecio will both receive Php1 million each for winning world titles in their respective sports.
Yulo brought home the first ever gold medal from the World Artistic Gymastics Championshio at Stuttgart, Germany. Petecio, on the other hand, won the featherweight AIBA Women’s World Championship held in Russia.
Yulo is also a 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifier. He was the second Filipino who qualified in the sporting event.
Both Yulo and Petecio will also receive another Php1 million peso prize from the MVP Sports Foundation.
“The Filipino athlete will always have an ally in the MVP Sports Foundation. We know we have world-class athletes and we know they can be the best in the world if they get the support they need,” MVP Sports Foundation Al Panlilio said in a statement.
