Donaire battles Japanese KO artist Inoue on Nov. 7

Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire will be battling Japanese knockout artist Naoya “Monster” Inoue for the finals of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) tournament on November 7 at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.

Both fighters are looking forward to the big fight with Inoue putting his unbeaten record on the line.

“I can’t wait for the final,” said the 26-year-old Inoue in a report by Manila Bulletin.

Inoue is unbeaten in 18 fights with 16 of those wins coming by way of knockouts.

Inoue made it clear that he is not taking the Filipino fighter lightly.

“Donaire is to me a legend in the sport of boxing, and I am honored to be sharing the ring with him in the final. But I will do my very best to win against the legend,” he said.

Donaire, one of four Filipino boxers currently holding a world title belt, has 40 wins and five losses and owns 26 knockout victories.

“I am looking forward to the final in Japan and a great fight,“ said the 36-year-old Donaire in the same report. “I have fought several world champions, and I will come well prepared. Inoue is an amazing fighter, but I saw flaws in his semifinal (fight), and I think I can definitely create a game plan against him,” he added.

Donaire earned a trip to the WBSS finals by beating Ryan Burnett of the United Kingdom and Stephon Young last April.

While Donaire is going up against an opponent nicknamed Monster, his promoter Richard Schaefer believes that it will be his ward who will be putting up a monstrous performance.

“November 7 will be a monstrous night for boxing! They call Inoue ‘The Monster’ but Nonito Donaire is undefeated at bantamweight. He is the real Monster and will yet again show the world why he is a true legend of the sport!” said Schaefer.
