GCC giga projects are set to push the architecture, engineering, and construction industry to greater heights, according to top engineers and architects.
During the first ever The Filipino Times Watchlist: Top Engineers and Architects Summit & Awards in the Middle East held on March 17, Dr. Mary Jane Alvero Al Mahdi, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Group and Orandantes Delizo, Project Manager of Tebodin Middle East, discussed the region’s pipeline of giga-projects and how Filipino engineers and architects are expected to benefit from these opportunities.
According to Delizo, the region is working on growth plans that will support robust infrastructure.
He revealed that numerous mega contracts are yet to be awarded, across a wide range of sectors including energy, power, water and transport infrastructure, commercial and residential real estate, and industrial developments.
On the other hand, Alvero bared that technology is a major factor in making giga projects simple.
“The metro for example is being run without a driver. AI (artificial intelligence) will play a big role in making projects simple,” she said.
Great returns are anticipated from giga projects as it is expected to provide new and long-term opportunities for domestic and foreign contractors, consultants and suppliers.
The first Filipino Engineers and Architects Summit & Awards in the Middle East, organized by the New Perspective Media Group, featured UAE government officials and leading industry experts held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek.
