Earlier, the rescue teams of Sharjah Civil Defence and Sharjah Police saved the woman from drowning, while her husband’s body was later found after specialised teams conducted a search operation.
Rescue teams and police patrols responded to the incident shortly after they received the report by an Arab national to the Central Operations Room on Sunday evening. The person informed the operation room about the drowning of an Asian couple at Al-Mamzar beach. The teams managed to help the wife and bring her back to safety and recovered the husband’s body from the sea. Though the team tried to resuscitate him and administered first aid to him, he was not responding. Later it was found that he breathed his last while trying to rescue his wife from drowning.
The rescue authorities always urge the public to desist from swimming during fierce weather and stick to the directives given by the competent authorities in the country to maintain public safety.
Authorities call on residents to comply with all preventive measures, such as swimming in specified areas, staying away from sea currents areas where guidance panels are installed, avoiding prohibited times and following the guidelines of inspectors and rescuers.
