As severe tropical storm Paeng exits the country, another weather disturbance enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Queenie entered the country’s monitoring area at 5AM on Monday, October 31.
PAGASA weather forecaster Grace Castañeda told CNN Philippines that Queenie is expected to move towards the east of Caraga and Eastern Visayas.
The staye weather bureau said that Queenie is “unlikely to directly affect” the country on Monday and Tuesday. The weather disturbance may weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) on Wednesday.
“Flooding and landslides are still expected because Tropical Depression Queenie may still bring heavy rains,” she added.
Paeng leaves the country on Monday after wreaking havoc in the Philippines over the weekend.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said in its latest report that 1.8 million Filipinos, or over 575,000 families have been affected.
The storm recorded 98 deaths with 58 confirmed while 59 more are for verification.
