The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases resolved to relax the mask requirement and “make mask wearing voluntary across the country,” according to press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles.
Cruz-Angeles clarifies that the measure remains as an IATF recommendation and is not a policy as of this time.
She emphasizes that this is for outdoor use and in open areas with sufficient ventilation, with the recommendation that elderly and immunocompromised people wear their masks.
The fourth quarter of 2022 will see a pilot test of this measure, “provided na may improve as COVID-19 boosts coverage,” she says.
