The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has issued an alert on monkeypox disease after the World Health Organization said that nearly 100 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in 12 countries.
The authorities called upon all health facilities operating in the emirate to investigate monkeypox disease after the WHO called for a strong tracing of contacts of the infected cases.

WHO has said that it is working with the affected countries and warned against stigmatising groups because of the disease.
This came after infections were confirmed in Italy, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.

Following the WHO advisory, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) issued a circular to all health professionals and facilities to promote the epidemiological investigation of the disease.
The circular asked the concerned authorities in the emirate to make efforts to detect and investigate the disease early as the DHA also called on all parties to fully comply with the circular to avoid any action.
