The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Tuesday that an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was found dead in Kuwait due to alleged suicide.
“The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait confirmed the demise of OFW Gladys Olarte Fong, who was found dead on 14 March 2022 inside her room in Al-Salam Area, Kuwait City,” the DFA said in a statement.
The DFA said that police authorities tried calling Fong at her room on March 14, but the OFW did not respond.
“Initial police reports state that the manner of death is consistent with suicide. Complete and comprehensive forensics were undertaken, and we are waiting for the results thereof,” the DFA said.
The DFA assured that they are now coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities to monitor the case.
