The Australian government has announced that it will reopen its borders to fully vaccinated tourists starting February 21.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison made the announcement on Monday marking the end of one of the world’s strictest lockdowns since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s almost two years since we took the decision to close the borders to Australia,” Morrison said after a meeting of the national security cabinet in a report on AFP.
“If you’re double vaccinated, we look forward to welcoming you back to Australia,” he added.
Australia closed its borders in March 2020 to prevent the surge of infections from entering their country.

Australia gradually lifted some of the restrictions to Australians and students.
