The Dubai Appellate Court has upheld the ruling of the Court of First Instance to jail an Asian man for a year for stealing AED 293,000 and a computer from a fellow Asian businessman, luring him to a place to exchange dirhams against the dollars.
Authorities have ordered the man to be deported after the completion of his sentence.
The Court also imposed the fine of AED 308,000 on him while acquitting an Arab of the charge of conniving with the suspect.

Earlier, the Court of First Instance had sentenced him to imprisonment.
The case is of January 2021 when the victim was attacked as his bag was stolen which had an AED 293,000 and a computer.
The convict confessed to luring the businessman to buy US dollars at a lower price than the market. (AW)
