Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello has tested positive for COVID-19, the labor department confirms in a statement.
DOLE says that Bello is asymptomatic and remains on top of his health.

“Secretary Bello, who is fully vaccinated, is on self-quarantine at his hometown Ilagan where the test was made on Saturday. Even while in isolation, the Secretary continues to discharge his functions,” it said in a statement.
Bello has been receiving officials and guests at his office, and traveled to various parts of the country distributing assistance to displaced workers.
“The Secretary wishes to thank the public for their prayers, and expresses hopes to resume leading DOLE officials in the distribution of assistance funds under its Serbisyong TUPAD as soon as his quarantine period is over,” the statement added.

Bello also reminds the public to always observe the minimum health protocols to help contain the pandemic.
Meantime in a tweet, OWWA Chief Hans Cacdac is also in quarantine after being identified as a close contact of Bello.
Cacdac however tested negative for the virus. (TDT)
