The Philippines ended its historic 2020 Tokyo Olympics campaign as the top-performing country among Southeast Asian nations.
The country finished its Olympics run with one gold medal, two silvers, and one bronze.
While neighboring country Indonesia has more medals in total with five, the Philippines was able to bag more silver medals. Indonesia’s final medal tally count was at one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

Thailand, meanwhile, finished with one gold and one bronze medal while Malaysia had one silver and one bronze medal.
Filipino weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz led the way for the Philippines after bringing home the country’s first ever Olympic medal after winning in the women’s 55-kilogram division.
Boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam, meanwhile, bagged silver medals in the women’s featherweight and men’s flyweight division, respectively.

Fellow Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial finished with a bronze medal in the men’s middleweight division.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics was historic for the Philippines as this marked the first ever gold medal for the country in the history of the sporting event. This was also the most successful Olympics campaign for the Philippines. (NM)
