DWIZ apologizes to Aquino family over Gadon’s HIV claims on PNoy

Radio station DWIZ has issued an apology to the Aquino family after one of its guests, Attorney Larry Gadon, claimed that the late President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III died due to HIV.

Gadon’s claim earned the ire of the LGBT community as well as supporters and friends of the Aquino clan.

#DisbarGadon has trended on social media following the baseless and insensitive remark of the lawyer on the day of the late president’s sudden passing.

A viral clip of the radio program “Karambola” made rounds on social media where Gadon can be heard saying PNoy died of HIV or human immunodeficiency virus, a virus that causes AIDS.

The lawyer claimed a friend who is close to the Aquino family shared that information with him.

According to the sisters of the former chief executive, Aquino died of renal disease secondary to diabetes.

“The Management of DWIZ would like to apologize to everyone and in particular, to the Aquino Family about the inappropriate statements made by our guest host in the show Karambola about the sudden death of our former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III,” the statement read.

“The Management has taken action about this uncalled for comments and will not tolerate this kind of incident. We sincerely would like to extend our condolences to the bereaved family and the whole nation,” it added.

Some netizens however were not pleased by the actions taken by the radio station pointing out the damage has been done.

“Gadon must be disbarred and the anchors should be sanctioned or better yet, removed,” a netizen tweeted.

“You guys are sh*t. Should’ve cut the show mid-air,” another netizen pointed out. (RA)
