Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) – especially in the UAE and Taiwan — are being warned against unscrupulous recruiters indulging in a third-party hiring scheme including jobs in Poland, according to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
“It has come to the attention of this administration that many Filipino workers working abroad (reportedly especially those in Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates) are falling victim to a third-country hiring scheme,” the POEA pointed out.

POEA stated that many OFWs had fallen prey to these illegal recruiters, after being charged huge fees and discovering their false promises, immigration, and employment problems at their destination.
The POEA advisory stated on June 21 that OFWs should go through only licensed recruitment agencies in the Philippines that have valid and POEA-approved job orders for Filipino workers in Poland.

The agency also urged OFWs to properly document all of their steps and always check the legitimacy of their employment and welfare before departing for abroad.
POEA urged OFWs to check its website, www.poea.gov.ph, for the list of licensed Philippine recruitment agencies with job orders or vacancies for Poland. (AW)
