Trillanes says no to ‘pakipot politics’

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV urges possible presidential and vice-presidential bets to decide on their plans for the 2022 polls.

Trillanes said that there is no room for ‘pakipot politics’ since there is so much at stake for the upcoming polls.

The comment comes after some of the 1Sambayan bets decline their nomination last weekend.

“I believe, kung talagang naiintindihan natin na mabigat yung stakes sa 2022 at mabigat ang laban na kinakaharap automatic na magpeprepare ka ng mas maaga. Dahil mas mataas yung bundok na aakytain mo, you better start climbing. Hindi ako naniniwala sa pakipot politics, sinasantabi mo yung importansya, yung bayan in this case. Survival ng country is at stake,” Trillanes told CNN Philippines.

The former senator said that he will back Vice President Leni Robredo to run for the presidency but she should make up her mind soon.

Trillanes previously announced that he will run for president since Robredo is inclined to run for a local post in Camarines Sur.

“I keep on mentioning that my decision to run for office is hinged on the decision of VP Leni on the assumption she gets picked as a presidential nominee. But it’s her prerogative to choose her running mate. I am prepared not to run at all and push for her candidacy but if she taps me, I’ll be ready for it,” he said. (TDT)
