The Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan has confirmed that three Filipino factory workers have tested positive for COVID-19.
This, following a reported outbreak of COVID-19 cases in a factory in Miaoli County in Taiwan.
“Tatlo nahawa kasi may community transmission dito. Immediately, as of yesterday 34 na nakasalamuha nila in the past several days ang in-isolate din habang hiinihintay kung merong sintomas ang mga ito,” MECO Chairman Angelito Banayo said.

The Philippine official said that they were not given the names of the three cases but what they know so far is that they work in a semiconductor company.
“Hindi naman ibinibigay sa amin ang pangalan, because this is treated confidentially by the Ministry of Health,” Banayo said.
At least 7,000 employees of the said factory are being tested against COVID-19 to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.

“So far sila ay nasa ospital pero mukhang mild cases. ‘Yung isa nanggaling dito sa atin nung bandang Mayo, lumipad dito sa Taiwan at mukhang hindi na-detect earlier pero later nagkaroon ng sintomas kaya na-isolate kaagad.”
Taiwan is home to some 153,000 Filipinos, most of them working in factories. (TDT)
