Four Asians sentenced for robbing a villa in Dubai

A gang of four Asians, one of whom is still at large, were sentenced to three years imprisonment followed by deportation for robbing a villa of a financial manager in Dubai.

According to the 33-year-old victim, three robbers wearing face masks broke into his villa and went straight to his bedroom.

He said one of the perpetrators restricted his movements, the other gagged his mouth while the third hit him several times in the head with an iron bar.

The victim could not stop the robbers due to injuries he sustained but he managed to remove the mask of one of the suspects.

Upon removal, the perpetrator covered his head with a plastic bag and plastered his mouth.

The robbers stole his wallet with AED 6,500 cash, 7 ATM cards, ID card, computer and fur in the villa, and his mobile phone.

The victim filed a complaint to the police which led to the arrest of one of the perpetrators.

Upon arrest, the suspect confessed to the crime saying they plotted the robbery with one of the former residents of the villa who helped them enter the villa by supplying all the details of its inhabitants and disconnecting its power supply.

The police said the suspect also confessed to hitting the victim with an iron bar and gagging him with a plaster.

Two other suspects were subsequently arrested and admitted the crime.

The Dubai Criminal Court convicted them with robbery and fined them AED 6,250. (RA)
