OFW leaves PH negative for COVID-19, tests positive in Hong Kong upon arrival

An overseas Filipino worker or OFW who tested negative for COVID-19 before her departure from the Philippines later on tested positive for the virus upon arrival in Hong Kong.

In a GMA News report, she had a certification from a hospital in the Philippines that she tested negative for COVID-19.

However, after her swab test in Hong Kong last March 13, she tested positive for the virus.

She was later brought to an ambulance and hospital as part of the HK government protocols.

She was brought to a quarantined hotel after seven days by her employer.

The OFW’s expenses were all paid by her employer. It’s unclear though on how and when the OFW contracted the virus.

The Philippines is at risk of recording a million confirmed COVID-19 cases before the month of April ends, according to research group OCTA.

The group said on Monday that while it observed some slack off in new infections in few cities in Metro Manila, there were also “rapid increases” in other cities.

“Before the end of April, the Philippines is expected to have recorded more than 1,000,000 total COVID-19 cases,” it said. (TDT)
