The Department of Education will be investigating the recent scheme involving parents hiring people to answer their kids’ modules.
“Iyon naman po ay pinapatingnan, papatingnan natin sa ating mga kasama at magpapa-validate tayo ng mga naulat,” DepEd Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said at the Laging Handa briefing.
The education official said that teachers who may be found to be involved in the scheme may face sanctions.

“Ang maliwanag po simula’t simula, binigyang-diin din natin na hindi puwedeng gawin ito kasi hindi ito makakatulong sa pagturo ng honesty, pagiging honest ng mga kabataang Pilipino kung ang mga magulang mismo ang mamimili o ang tutulong sa pagbigay ng sagot,” he said.
“Kapag napapatunayan pagkatapos ng mahabang proseso ay mabibigyan nang angkop na kaparusahan,” he added.
Senator Win Gatchalian flagged that some parents are hiring people to answer learning modules which renders the distance learning ineffective.
San Antonio also addressed doubts of some senators over the department’s report that 99% of the students got passing marks under distance learning in the first quarter of the school year.
“Iyon po kasing 99% na pumasa, hindi naman naliwanag namin na pati iyong markang 75 ay considered pasado na,” he said.

This week, DepEd also withdraws its earlier proposal to shorten the two-week summer vacation of students after getting flak and criticisms online.
“It was among the many options we were considering but noting the objections from our stakeholders, we will no longer propose a two-week break,” Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said in a message to reporters.
In a report on GMA News last month, San Antonio said that DepEd is considering extending the school year and shortening the scheduled summer vacation of students. (TDT)
