The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) revealed that over 27,000 stranded Filipinos have been flown back home to the Philippines via Emirates Airlines this 2020 during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
The photo featured on the official Twitter page of MOFAIC shows Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana presenting a token of appreciation last September to Adnan Kazim, chief commercial officer of Emirates, in recognition of the UAE airline’s efforts to help Filipinos reunite with their families back home.

This gesture of collaboration between both countries affirms that that the UAE looks after the welfare of Filipinos and other expats living in the country to make sure that they reach their respective countries safely.
“The UAE did not just look after its own, it helped thousands of third-country nationals and residents stranded by the pandemic, get safely back to their homes and families,” read the tweet from MOFAIC.
