A lawmaker revealed that House Speaker Alan peter Cayetano has a big chance of staying as house leader as the term-sharing deal with Representative Lord Allan Velasco moves closer.
ACT-CIS Party-list representative Eric Yap said that Cayetano has a “99.9 percent” chance of keeping his post.
He also denied reports that President Rodrigo Duterte’s son, Paolo Duterte will move to declare Cayetano’s post vacant as lawmakers debate on the uneven share of funds in the 2021 budget.

“Never naman niya sinabing he will declare the post vacant Yap,” he told ANC.
“Ang sabi niya, he will ask the Mindanao bloc kung may reklamo sila, then sila ang mag-declare,” he added.
The lower house is set to discuss concerns over the 2021 budget. For Yap, Cayetano has a big chance to retain his post.
“I have 99.9 percent feeling na talagang si Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano pa rin iyong magiging Speaker namin dahil wala pong problema sa pamamalakad niya,” Yap said.

“Malakas iyong feeling ko, wala namang coup d’état na mangyayari kasi hindi natin afford. May COVID na, tapos mag-a-away-away pa,” he added.
Cayetano is supposed to serve as Speaker for 15 months or until October, followed by Velasco.
Yap believes that the President may speak on the matter in November on whether he wants Cayetano to stay as House Speaker.
