Speaker Alan Cayetano said Monday evening that Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco’s fate to be a House Speaker is in the hands only of the President.
Cayetano said this during his meeting with 100 lawmakers from his Nacionalista Party (NP) and the powerhouse National Unity Party (NUP) at the Andaya Hall of the Batasang Pambansa.
The Taguig City-Pateros 1st District congressman told reporters on Monday that Velasco should wait for his time as agreed earlier during their deal for shared terms last year, according to Rappler.
As announced last year, Cayetano will head the House for 15 months or until October 2020. It will be Velasco who will take over for the remaining months 18th Congress.
Last week, Cayetano bared the alleged plot of Velasco’s camp to oust him.
Velasco already denied the allegations that he is already offering committee chairmanships and budget allocations to those who would oust Cayetano.
