Abu Dhabi Police are now looking into the angle of “misalignment in gas container fittings” as a possible angle in a blast that killed two people in Airport Road, Abu Dhabi, Monday, 10:15 am.
In a tweet of the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office, it said, “According to on-site investigations, the incident was caused by a misalignment in the gas container fittings following refuelling.”

Two restaurants were figured in the incident, as it appears on photos circulating on social media.
A comprehensive checkup of the site and adjacent buildings is still being carried out by rapid intervention teams from the Emergency and Public Safety Department of Abu Dhabi Police to ensure residents’ safety.
Local reports said one of the casualties, a passerby, died after a concrete block fell on him. The other died on the spot at the site.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families, God rest their souls,” the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office said in an announcement.
The authorities evacuated all residents from the building. Temporary accommodation for them was also arranged.
