As part of the 52nd anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Philippine Embassy, along with the Embassies of other member-countries, conducted the first ever ASEAN family day at the Muharraq Sports Club on 9 November 2019.
The officers, staff, and dependents from the Embassy and the Embassies of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand in the Kingdom of Bahrain, attended the whole day affair. They participated in the fun games such as Maria went to Market, Ping Pong ball relay, T-shirt relay, musical chair game, candy hunt, and balloon popping contest.
During the opening ceremony, Thailand Ambassador H.E. Thanis Na Songkhla, the current Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Manama Bahrain (ACMB), expressed his gratitude to the other heads of post of ASEAN Embassies in Bahrain for their support in making the gathering a success.
Traditional cuisines of the ASEAN member states were served during the event to the delight of the attendees, which include 30 children and about 200 adults. The Philippine Embassy’s delegation to the event was the largest; consisting of 10 children, 20 women and 28 men.
