LuLu invites both professional and aspiring Filipino chefs to showcase their best recipes as the region’s largest hypermarket chain is set to host the ‘Pinoy Master Kusinero’ during its Pagkaing Pinoy theme as part of the annual ‘World Food Festival’.

Taking place from February 28 to 29, Pagkaing Pinoy will witness competitions from the best Filipino chefs at all major LuLu Hypermarkets including World Trade Center Abu Dhabi, Al Rayaan at Sharjah, and Sanaiya at Al Ain. The final competition will take place on March 5 with the grand winner taking home Dh5,000 worth of prizes from LuLu!

Prizes for the preliminary rounds for Pagkaing Pinoy as well as other cook offs include Dh500 for 1st place, Dh300 for second, and Dh200 for third, while the final round would have the ultimate Pinoy Master Chef winning Dh5,000, with the second and third placers winning Dh3,000 and Dh2,000 respectively.

Filipinos are known for their knack of innovating and recreating classic Pinoy dishes including the Bulalo, Adobo, Menudo, Afritada, and many other iconic dishes with their very own twists – which is why LuLu wishes to bring these recipes to the forefront of their search for the best-tasting Pinoy food in a celebration of flavors and culture during the three-week festival spanning from February 19 to March 7.

“As part of our World Food Festival, we aim to highlight cuisines from all parts of the world including the Philippines whose citizens are known as one of the most adventurous food lovers. We hope that Pagkaing Pinoy will be a platform not just for the innovative takes on classic Filipino food, but also to put the spotlight on the creativity of the Filipino chefs who will take part on this challenge,” said LuLu Group Director Salim M.A.

Apart from Pagkaing Pinoy, LuLu will also be hosting an array of global cuisines coming from over 25 countries, with more than 300 cooking competitions to take place across all major hypermarkets. Selected stores across the UAE will also see 20 live performances from celebrity chefs and personalities, alongside huge discounts on their products.

LuLu’s ‘World Food Festival’ hosts several other themes that feature cuisines from around the world including Akla Arabia featuring Arabic delights, Desi Dhaba and Malabar Thattukada with Indian favourites, street food staples, desserts, barbecue treats and so much more, targeting different nationalities and communities. Alongside the food themes, a host of different cooking competitions is being organised not just for homemakers, but also exclusive for males and kids.
