UAE gives flu shots to residents, expats

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention has launched the National Seasonal Flu Awareness campaign to inform residents to get their flu shots immediately.

The initiative under the slogan ‘Get The Vaccine, Not The Flu’ hopes to raise awareness about the complications on health brought by influenza.

Residents can avail flu vaccine shots for free for Emiratis and high risk groups like children under five years old, senior citizens, pregnant women and those will chronic illnesses.

Foreigners or expats must pay Dh20.

“The seasonal flu can differ in intensity depending on the immunity levels of the infected people so in order to prevent any complications people should not delay in getting the vaccine shots which can be given to all ages starting from the age of six months,” Health officials said.
