UAE residents in search for an easily accessible Asian grocery that houses all of their needs in food, dining, and other concepts can now look forward to the upcoming opening of the WEMART Hypermarket – the first Asian hypermarket that will combine shopping and restaurants in one establishment.
The newly opened hypermarket is set to open this October 21 and will be located at the heart of downtown Dubai – at the Deira Clock Tower Area. The store will span over 2,500 square meters which will house a fresh food supermarket with globally sourced goods as well as a food court that features Asian, Chinese, and Western food varieties. Well-known landmarks such as Deira Clock tower, the Dubai Economic Building (DED), Deira City Centre and the Day to Day shopping plaza are all located within the district.
It’s a five-minute walk from the Deira City Centre metro station to the new WEMART, which is next to the Dubai Economic Building, along 8th Street toward the Flora Park Deluxe Hotel Apartments.
Highly selective: “Global Selection” of goods
The second floor of the new WEMART is a fresh-food supermarket that offers a huge variety of high-quality items. The supermarket has a business area exceeding 1,200 square meters, more than 10,000 SKUs and a wide range of imported goods.
All featured goods are “globally sourced,” as the company proudly states, and all fresh commodities are directly imported from their respective countries of origin through the fastest possible means of transport. Seafood from Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and France can all be found at WEMART.
New attraction: food court with Asian food
The WEMART Food Court occupies the first floor of the new location. Based on Asian cultural preferences, it has over 10 stalls and thousands of offerings in regional cuisine, including seafood processing, barbecue, pastry, pot-stewed food, a cake stall, teppanyaki, Zhengxin chicken steak, hot pot, skewers, Chinese and Western food varieties, teas and bakery goods. The brand-new business model allows Asians to enjoy the authentic flavor of their hometown in a foreign country.
Fresh from the farms
Formerly, the fruits and vegetables sold in the markets of Dubai had to be imported from different countries. They might have looked fresh in the display areas, but their taste and nutritional value were diminished by slow transport from the home markets.
In order for UAE residents to enjoy the truly fresh vegetables, WEMART invested tens of millions to establish produce farms in the desert. To ensure a stable supply of clean water, WEMART dug wells 100 meters deep and adopted drip irrigation to minimize the loss of water in this arid climate. So, every possible effort has been made to provide the healthiest, most nutritious foods and ingredients.
In addition to its own farms, WEMART invested in fresh-food storage and transportation by launching its own frozen storage, constant-temperature storage warehouse and whole-process frozen logistics to ensure the freshness of food throughout its storage and transport stages. In fact, behind every bite of freshness you’ll find the efforts of WEMART employees and a sizeable investment of capital and equipment.
Online shopping and membership benefits
Consumers love fresh, delicious foods. However, some consumers live far away from WEMART, so it isn’t always convenient for them to go out shopping.
To make it easier for consumers, the WEMART App was launched three years ago. Now, consumers can shop and make payments online. From Dubai to Abu Dhabi, distance is no longer an issue as consumers can enjoy free delivery for any purchase of Dh100 or more.
In addition, the new store’s membership system will eliminate the complicated redemption rules. Instead, there will be five member benefits, including member specials, weekly member discounts, member birthday gifts and the highest point-to-voucher redemption percentage of any supermarket chain. So, the more you buy, the more you’ll save. Shopping at WEMART is the smarter way to manage your household, and the new membership system is WEMART’s way of saying “we care.”
