A senior citizen in Muntinlupa related that she felt dizzy after taking a food supplement.
Remedios Gimena, 76, she took three cups of the food supplement the next day and noticed the taste and the smell was similar to moth balls or naphthalene balls, reported GMA News.
She checked the bottle and heard a clinking sound and proceeded to pour the contents into a glass and found three moth balls.
She consulted with a doctor, who confirmed that she ingested naphthalene balls.
Naphthalene balls or moth balls are a form of insecticide and if consumed can cause complications in the blood, kidney, heart, brain and other vital organs. The symptoms include nausea, dizziness, stomach pains and can lead to comatose.
The suspect has been identified as Garnet Gallardo, the house help, who Gimena met through a Facebook group.
Gallardo, who was arrested , said she is a victim of a frame up.
But a barangay blotter showed that Gallardo allegedly admitted to committing the crime.
Gallardo will be facing a charge of attempted murder.
