A baby dugong named Marium is helping in Thailand’s information dissemination program on ocean conservation.
Marium was found stranded on a beach in May and has been cared for by park officials, conservation groups and veterinarians from the Phuket Marine Biological Center, according to an Agence France Press report.
The photos taken of the cuddly dugong became popular when these were posted on social media by the veterinarians and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), which regularly announces updates on her condition.
In a report by the National Geographic Thailand, a dugong ball was found aground in perfect physical condition along the beach in April.
