Dubai Crown Prince saves a hedgehog on his birthday

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, saves another poor creature in danger on his birthday, November 14.

Also dubbed as ‘the animal rescuer’ for having saved many animals previously, the nature-loving Crown Prince rescued a parched hedgehog in the middle of the desert yesterday, as posted on his Instagram stories.

On his official Instagram account (@faz3), the royal shared pictures and videos of the poor hedgehog.

The Instagram story begins with a close-up image of the creature, followed by a clip where H.H. Sheikh Hamdan offers some water to the thirsty hedgehog.

The hedgehog eventually relaxes after satiating his thirst, and is seen running off into the distance shortly after.

Desert hedgehogs are commonly seen in the UAE. When they feel threatened, their muscles go tight and they pull the outer layer of skin around their body.

The hedgehog in H.H. Sheikh Hamdan’s video seems to feel threatened at first, but relaxes when Fazza offers him some water.

In September, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan shared footage of him untangling an oryx from discarded netting. In April, he was also seen rescuing a stuck sea turtle in a beach in Dubai.

November 14 is H.H. Sheikh Hamdan’s birthday. He was also seen flying a helicopter over the desert on his special day, as posted on a live video on his Instagram account.
