LOOK: OFWs, locals flock to first Filipino restaurant in Armenia

A Filipino restaurant in Armenia has been drawing both local and foreign customers to come and try Filipino cuisines that they offer, including sinigang, adobo, and sisig.

Filipinas Armenia Food Republic, the first-ever Filipino restaurant in Yerevan, has opened last June to provide overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Armenia a taste of home and to introduce a new flavor to Armenians.

Restaurant owners Gilbert Aguila and Chen Aguila told ABS-CBN News that they were happy that locals in Armenia favored Filipino cuisine.

“Masaya kami dahil naipakilala namin ang pagkaing Pilipino dito sa Armenian,” ABS-CBN News quoted Aguila as saying.

While OFWs said that Filipinas Armenia Food Republic has given them one of the things they miss most about the Philippines, locals in Armenia have also expressed their fondness of the Filipino food in the said restaurant.

Some of the restaurant’s best-sellers include bulalo, pansit at palabok.

Armenia is a country that can be found in Western Asia near Turkey and Georgia. Many OFWs have been visiting the country ever since Filipinos have been allowed to get a visa on arrival in Armenia.

It has also become one of the favorite travel destinations among Filipinos in the UAE, especially those on a visa run, with good reason.
