Many netizens were touched after watching a video of a Cebu Pacific pilot emotionally announcing his retirement in front of his passengers.
As seen in a Facebook video uploaded by Kathrine Sheree Lobrigas Tandingan, Captain Rizalino “Totoy” Irizari informs his passengers before his flight takes off that he will be retiring soon and that the flight he is on will be his last.
“I would like to inform you that in my career (as a pilot), this is my last flight here. My 48 years of flying in aviation (has been) a big thing for me,” the pilot said as he tries to fight back the tears.
Though some of his other words were inaudible, he still earned applause and praise from his passengers.
In his short announcement, he also thanked his cabin crew members and his family.
The uploader of the video said that their flight from Davao bound to Cebu got delayed Saturday morning but they did not mind it anymore as they were able to share a significant moment in Captain Irizari’s life.
“Delayed flight? Yes, okay lang na okay kung ganito din naman ang mawi-witness namin sa buong buhay namin,” Tandingan said her caption of the video.
“It’s a privilege for us to witness this awesome and blessed moment onboard. We’re so lucky to be in his last flight for retirement,” she added.
The video immediately went viral and after just a few days of posting, quickly got over 2 million views and 120,000 reactions.
The viral video ended with one of the flight attendants asking the passengers to pose for a selfie with Captain Irizari.
