OFWs attempt to translate English words to Filipino

As the celebration of the “Buwan ng Wika” continues, Filipinos from all around the world commemorate and celebrate the use of our native language. While the Filipino language has gone through decades of changes with various cultural influences, it’s quite interesting to look back and relearn words that Filipinos use for translating English words.

The Filipino Times Lifestyle TV has challenged OFWs to translate common English words to Filipino. Here is the list of English words presented in the episode as well as their Filipino translation:

Several of the participants didn’t really expect that these words had their Filipino translations.

As the Filipino’s culture and lifestyle evolves, so will the language as it adapts for the usage of the new generation. But amidst all the changes, Filipinos from all around the world will remain proud and stay true to their roots.
