The Clark International Airport has announced the construction of a new terminal with a twist.
The architectural design of the airport terminal will draw inspiration from the different mountains found in the Philippines.
The inspiration can be clearly seen in the wavy roof structure of the airport terminal, which will imitate the shapes of Mount Arayat, Mount Pinatubo, and the Philippines’ longest mountain range, the Sierra Madre.
The country’s tropical climate was also used as inspiration for the materials to be used for the new terminal.
Its interior will also feature bamboo-made furniture and structures.
An open garden called The Tropical Plaza will be put up and will serve as the send off and welcome sections of the airport. Restaurants will also be available for passengers awaiting their loved ones or their own scheduled flights.
The Clark International Airport Terminal 2 is set to open in 2020 and can accommodate up to 8 million passengers.
