Do you remember writing your own excuse letter for being absent in school? Some of you might say: “Those were the days”, or “Yes! Time was when”.
You probably had a struggle writing it yourself in lieu of your parents or guardian’s absence, especially if they didn’t know that you had cut class and gone to the beach with your friends. Who didn’t? Good for you!
But here’s a template of an excuse letter of an unnamed Filipino kid that’s definitely one for the books. No wonder it has gone viral recently.
The excuse letter reads:
Dear Maam.
Sorry for my long absence. I like Absent on February 9-11 because February is 40 day’s in my uncle THAT Dead. and February 12 in the Morning. my mother demanded me for buy of fruit on store. I’m ride motor. but Im not know that the Driver is drunkard. the motor is clash on the stone. that reason I’m fly Away. Im okay because Im flyaway to many Leaves but my Back and finger is not okay. Because painful and not move. Everyday very painful my Body.

The letter uploaded by Definitely Filipino Facebook page made the rounds online with more than 8,600 likes and 1,000 shares.
While many of the netizens had a good laugh at it, many appreciated the kid’s effort to explain in full details why he/she was absent.
Gina Lopez Pernia said, “Remember [E]nglish is only one of the many languages. It’s not a measure of intelligence or superiority. just be thankful that you are able to communicate. smugness is worst!”
Joy Marie, on the other hand, said the kid is better than those who skip classes without a warning. “Mas ok na ‘yan kesa sa mga taong hindi marunong magpaalam kahit sa sulat man lang.”
