Television host Kris Aquino has confirmed that she and former DILG Secretary Mel Sarmiento have called it quits after being in a relationship for two months.
Their separation rumors sparked after Kris deleted all her photos with the former DILG chief.
In a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, Kris said that she wants to spare her loved ones from all the rumors and speculations about the split.
“My health has continued to deteriorate and I will soon fly abroad for further diagnostic tests,” she wrote.
“From last quarter of 2018, I’ve long known that my autoimmune conditions could only be treated but never cured. I have accepted the truth, many complications from having autoimmune may arise, especially because I am immunocompromised and we have been forced to live with a nearly two-year worldwide pandemic.
“My faith in God has taught me I must completely surrender all, to His Will and His Timing,” she added.
Kris revealed that she suffered from drastic weight loss and now weighs 88 pounds or 40 kilos.
She also shared some photos of her during her check ups.
“Sa pinagdadaanan ko ngayon, may tao pa bang gustong pag-usapan ang kanyang paghihiwalay,” she said.
Kris said that she needs to speak up because she wants to ‘peacefully move on’ and her sons still need her.
“I will just post screenshots of Mel’s last text message to me. After that you will never read nor hear anything at all about him from me,” Kris said.
The screenshot of Sarmiento’s text message hinted of the former DILG official explaining to Kris that he likes going out and visiting other places.
He said that he was ready to stay with Kris for an RT-PCR test but realized that he just visited a mall to buy a phone and got a haircut the following day. He also bought clothes from a store.
“I’m not sure if the people that I had close contact with at the mall, especially my barber is negative or not and this can only be confirmed if I have a test on the 4th day,” Sarmiento said.
Sarmiento then said that he was reminded of Kris’ doctor telling him that his responsibility is making sure that Kris will not be infected by COVID-19.
“For the past two days, I had enough time to think about things and accepted the fact that ensuring you don’t get COVID is an enormous responsibility. Given my nature who loves to go out, I accept the fact that I already have a bubble fatigue, and I will not be able, sad to say, continue to live in a bubble,” he added.
“On that note, with a heavy heart, I accepted your offer of letting me go,” Sarmiento said.
Sarmiento adds that he will always cherish his moments with Kris. The two announced their engagement last year.
