Actress Sylvia Sanchez said that one of the biggest reasons why her son Arjo Atayde ran for congress was the denial of the ABS-CBN franchise.
Both Sylvia and Arjo are Kapamilya artists who were affected by the Congress’s non-renewal of the network’s franchise.
“Actually, kung ako ang tatanungin, ayoko. Alam ng anak ko yun at alam ni Enchong yun. Nag-uusap kami diyan ni Enchong,” Sylvia told Philippine Star in an interview.

“Ayoko, pero gaya nga ng sabi ko, anak ko ‘yan, e. Wala akong magawa kundi suportahan na lang ang anak ko,” she added.
Sylvia said that they have talked about it and that she tried to convince her son not to enter politics.
“High school pa lang nagsasabi na siya, ‘Gusto kong manungkulan, Mommy. Sabi ko, ‘Makakatulong ka naman kahit wala ka sa puwesto.’ Sagot niya, ‘Mas makakatulong ako pag nasa puwesto,” she said.

The actress said that Arjo wants to push for the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise.
“Yes, because of ABS. Isa ‘yan sa reasons. Okay na, nanahimik na siya nun. Hanggang nang magsara ang ABS. Dun talaga. Yun ang pinakatalaga, dun siya nalungkot, nagalit, nalungkot siya sa lahat ng Kapamilya,” she said.
“Magandang rason yun kasi sabi nga niya, ‘Ma, andaming naghihirap, andaming kawawang kapamilya. Gusto ko lang silang tulungan,” the actress added. (TDT)
