The fourth season of Netflix’s original series ‘The Crown’ has mentioned former first lady Imelda Marcos over his infamous shoe collection.

In the third episode of Season 4, Queen Elizabeth II’s sister Princess Margaret—played by Helena Bonham Carter—tells the royals the story of how she met the Marcoses during her official visit to the Philippines in 1980.

“So, there we are in Manila, in the middle of a state banquet, when who barges into the room? None other than Imelda Marcos,” the Countess of Snowdon tells fellow royals at the court.

“She makes a beeline straight for me, saying she’s desperate to show me her, wait for it…” she added, but gets interrupted by Princess Anne, who said: “Shoe collection.”

Margaret, however, corrects her and said: “Shell collection.”

The royals then make fun of Imelda’s accent, with Queen Elizabeth—played by Olivia Colman—asking if Imelda had “something in her teeth.”

Prince Philip—played by Tobias Menzies—said she was probably trying to say ‘shoe’ and Margaret just misunderstood her.

“No, I can assure you, it was seashells,” Margaret replied. As she continues the tale of her visit to Manila, she gets interrupted by the arrival of Lady Diana Spencer.
