Actor and businessman Richard Yap admitted that the future of his businesses and career make him worry a lot now that the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic seems not to go away anytime soon, reported Inquirer Bandera.
He also said that additional challenges came in after the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.
Yap suspended operations of his restaurants when the community-wide lockdown was implemented.
Despite the relaxation of the quarantine status in some areas, Yap said the impact of COVID-19 had a profound effect on their business.

“Yung restaurant business, grabe ‘yung effect doon. It’s given us a lot of hardship especially to all our employees also kasi karamihan walang trabaho. Siyempre saan mo kukunin ‘yung ipambabayad mo ng everyday necessities, di ba,” Yap said.
“Alam naman natin na nawalan din tayo ng mga projects because of what happened to our home network. That also caused a lot of stress not only for us but for everyone who’s been working there. Dagdag hirap talaga,” he said.

Yap added that the upside of this pandemic was the opportunity to spend more time with his family and think of new ways in order to earn additional income.
“It’s brought us a lot of time to think also and brainstorm. While we are on lockdown, we came up with other ideas and new business also for the kids,” Yap said. “At least may oras tayo with our family ngayon. Of course it’s very nice na magkakasama kami parati,” he added.
Yap gained popularity after starring opposite Jodi Sta.Maria in the noontime teleserye “Be Careful With My Heart”
