Robert Downey Jr. named ‘Disney Legend’

It is his take on playing Iron Man for 11 years that Robert Downey Jr. had legions of fans cheering and even crying with or for him.

The actor has been given a Disney Legend Award on Friday during the D23 Expo.

The award is given to artists who have made significant contributions to the Disney legacy.

“Playing Tony over these many years and the thematic idea that technology can guide our species toward enlightenment or destruction has been really worthwhile, and it’s an ongoing meditation. It’s been a great gift,” he said.

The other recipients were: Christina Aguilera, Diane Saywer, Jon Favreau, Hans Zimmer, Robin Roberts, Barnette Ricci, Ming-Na Wen, James Earl Jones, Wing T. Chao, Kenny Ortega, and Bette Midler.
