Andi Eigenmann admits coping with ‘postpartum depression’

Actress Andi Eigenmann bravely shared on her Instgram account that she hasn’t been herself lately and currently coping with ‘postpartum depression’.

On her Instagram account, Eigenmann shared her struggles and how she looks forward to recovering from this phase.

In the first two weeks after childbirth, many first-time mother experience “baby blues” like mood swings, crying spells, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. However, when these “baby blues” become more severe, making it difficult for the mother to care for the baby or perform daily task, it might lead to a post-partum depression that needs prompt psychological or medical intervention.

Eigenmann said that she had prepared herself that she could no longer physically bounce back after giving birth to her second child, but admitted that she wasn’t prepared enough emotionally.

“I guess this is what postpartum depression looks like to me. I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. Sleepless nights are getting the best of me,” Eigenmann said.

The actress revealed that there has been a feeling of guilt and regrets on the decisions she made that led to her current situation.

“When the others are asleep I’d shed tears I’d normally save for my acting performances on TV show finales. I’ve been having so many thoughts of guilt. I’ve been questioning every decision I’ve made that led me here,” she siad.

Eigenmann said that her newborn child ‘Lilo’ and daughter ‘Ellie’ have been her source of strength.

The actress asked netizens for advice on how to deal with what she’s going through and most of them told her to ‘get some sun’.

Eigenmann’s family will return to Siargao, the place where she spent a lot of time after quitting the ‘showbiz life’.
