Irish Band U2 sets December date for Philippine concert

Bono, the lead singer of the Irish rock band U2, posted a hand written note announcing a scheduled performance in the Philippines in December.

“Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry coming to rock you hard & soft… loud & vivid, black & white & colour Dec 11.”

The Manila stop is part of “The Joshua Tree Tour” in which the group will also perform in Singapore, Seoul in South Korea and return visits to New Zealand, Australia and Japan.

The band will perform at the Philippine Arena in Manila on Wednesday, 11 December 2019.

“Manila is a first,” says Bono. “And that has everyone on their toes…. this has to be one of the great ones!”

The group’s hit songs include With or Without you, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, Where the Streets Have No Known, and I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.

U2 had wanted to hold a concert in Manila in 2017, but did not push because the management required a venue with bigger capacity, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

The Philippine Arena in Bulacan, where U2 will hold the concert this December, will accommodate 55,000 people.
