ABS-CBN Films’ managing director Olivia Lamasan confirmed that they have unanimously selected the actress who will portray the sought after character of “Darna”.
“We have found a new Darna and she is none other than Jane de Leon!” said Lamasan.
In a report from ABS-CBN, Lamasan shared that 300 celebrities auditioned for the role.
De Leon, 20, is an exclusive talent of Star Magic.
She is best remembered as the sister of Jericho Rosales’ in the top rating teleserye Halik as Maggie Bartolome.
In 2017 she is one of the moon chasers in the fantasy drama series “La Luna Sangre” and also part of the girl group Girltrends of “It’s Showtime.”
Darna director Jerrold Tarog and even Lamasan described De Leon as an instinctive actress.
De Leon was shocked and excited upon hearing the news but she is surely prepared to have the “bato” and shout Darna!
