Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez has left a few words for Maine Mendoza in light of her son Arjo Atayde’s relationship with the Kapuso actress.
In Sanchez’s interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” on Monday, she admitted that she got hurt when netizens who are against Mendoza’s relationship with Atayde started targeting her and her family.
It can be recalled that after Atayde and Mendoza admitted that they are exclusively dating, it did not please some netizens, especially those who are fans of the latter’s on-screen partnership with Alden Richards.
However, Sanchez said that seeing her son fight for his relationship with Mendoza amid the backlash proves that he is truly in love with her.
Sanchez also said that she never told her son to just start dating someone else because she knows that Atayde will not give up on Mendoza.
She added that she has never met Mendoza because of their busy schedules, but she is willing to meet her when the time is right.
Sanchez also admired her son for going personally to Mendoza’s house to meet her parents.
When asked to give a message to Mendoza, Sanchez said: “Nasa top ka. Maine Mendoza ka. Hinahangaan ka. Grabe ‘yung career mo at alam nating pwedeng maapektuhan [ang trabaho mo nito] pero nilaban mo ang anak ko. Nagsalita rin siya na, ‘we’re exclusively dating’. Nagpapasalamat ako kasi ‘yun ang sinabi ng anak ko, sinigundahan niya.
“Ang daming nagsasabi na nangangarap lang ang anak ko, stalker ang anak ko. Masakit ‘yon para sa isang nanay pero nung sinabi ni Maine ‘yon na, ‘yes, exclusively dating kami’, masaya ako kasi hindi natakot si Maine at pinanindigan niya ‘yung alam niyang tama.”
