Chinese film actor and martial artist Jet Li finally broke his silence and addressed the issue involving him after a photo of him looking frail went viral online.
Fans of the martial arts superstar were quick to express their worry over Li’s health conditions which might have contributed to his frail state.
But Li took it to Facebook to clear the air and assure everyone that he is doing fine.
“I’m doing great and feeling great! I’m excited to share with you all a few projects I am working on in the near future. For now, thank you all for your concerns!” Li wrote on Facebook.
According to an article by The Hollywood Reporter, Li previously revealed that he has been suffering from hyperthyroidism as well as a heart condition.
According to the Mayo Clinic website, hyperthyroidism, also known as overactive thyroid, “is a condition in which your thyroid gland produces too much of the hormone thyroxine.” It can “accelerate your body’s metabolism significantly, causing sudden weight loss, a rapid or irregular heartbeat, sweating, and nervousness or irritability.”
The same source stated there are ways to treat hyperthyroidism. It said that some doctors “use anti-thyroid medications and radioactive iodine to slow the production of thyroid hormones,” while some treatments require surgery.
Li’s manager, Steven Chasman, already spoke about the issue saying that Li is doing well and that the photo was just taken “at the wrong angle and wrong time of the day”.
At 55 years old, Li continues to be active in the entertainment industry. He has been tapped to be the host of a reality competition in China titled “King of Bots”, which is set to air this year. It was also announced last month that he will be taking on the role of the Emperor of China in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s “Mulan”, which is scheduled for 2020.
